Wednesday 27th April we attended the Wokingham District Council - Development Control Committee, along with a number of our good supporters. On the agenda for this meeting were two planning issues within the village of Shinfield. The Manor - detailed permission for now 78 not 80 houses was approved with some minor recommendations. One of which included the provision of a footpath onto Hollow Lane.Cutbush Lane - with regard to David Wilson Homes' application was refused and condition 10 remains in place. Any further attempts by David Wilson Homes to alter this condition must be presented to the Development Control Committee.Shinfield Residents Action Group spoke for 3 mins and were supported by members of the committee. This related to this most important planning amendment to 164 houses at Cutbush Lane, which is a major amendment to the condition 10 of the planning consent, which will allow 100 (amended before the meeting to 70)instead of the agreed 30 houses to be occupied, without any of the planned signalised junction construction being completed. There were plans for this issue to be handled by the Wokingham District planning officers, which means that there would have been no public involvement whatsoever, whereas we had felt that it should be a Development Committee matter and in the public view. David Wilson Homes had already had meetings with the council on this issue and the application variation had already been recommended for approval by Wokingham District Council.
